Skills Verification
PEP candidates must demonstrate the midwifery skills required by NARM and document satisfactory performance on the current NARM Skills Verification forms.
Skills must be performed under the direct supervision of a NARM Registered Preceptor. The preceptor must be physically present when the skill is performed and may verify a skill only after determining that the candidate can perform it competently and safely. More than one supervised performance may be necessary before a skill is verified.
Skills should be reviewed, practiced, and documented throughout the candidate’s education rather than completed solely at the end of the PEP process. Candidates may work with more than one NARM Registered Preceptor. Each preceptor may verify only the skills personally supervised and evaluated by that preceptor.
Candidates must complete all required stages of Skills Verification using the forms and instructions in effect at the time of submission. NARM may request additional documentation or clarification when reviewing submitted verification materials.
Completion of the required Skills Verification confirms that the candidate has documented satisfactory performance of the required skills. It does not waive any clinical experience, examination, documentation, or other certification requirement.
After completing Phases 1 through 3 and the required Skills Verification, the candidate will be sent a confirmation of completion of the PEP educational evaluation requirements. The candidate must still pass the NARM Exam, complete Phase 4, and satisfy all other outstanding requirements before the CPM credential is awarded.
